B Corporations: A Global Community Of Leaders

  • 4,088 Companies

  • 153 Industries

  • 77 Countries

  • 1 Unifying Goal

If you just skimmed those bullet points, RE-READ! At Eat The Peach Travel we love seeing those businesses that represent a big fat "B" as a Certified B Corporation. What does it stand for? Certified B Corporations are "businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy".

*Cries happy tears* We love a good and very prestigious certification based on the triple bottom line.

In reality, many of the major corporations in this world are causing some of the highest carbon emissions, worst environmental impacts, and harmful use of communities. HOWEVER, B Corporations are changing that by taking their actions into their own hands:

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.

The B Corp Declaration Of Independence

It gets better, they even have their own Declaration of Independence! Just look at that commitment. To sum it up:

As B Corporations and leaders of this emerging economy, we believe:

  • That we must be the change we seek in the world.

  • That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.

  • That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.

  • To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.

Money Talks

So how as we, consumers, and people looking better the planet make our own impact? Support B Corporations! It's true, money talks as it matters where we spend our money. It's up to us to show these companies that went through this rigorous certification to show that we support them and what they are doing for the people, planet, and prosperity.
