All About WWOOF-ing

Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms, USA (WWOOF-USA®) is part of a worldwide effort to link visitors with organic farmers, promote an educational exchange, and build a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

WWOOF aims to provide helping hands to its hosts and at the same time allow visitors to learn what it means to grow one's own food sustainably and earn a living as an organic farmer, and the importance of supporting sustainable agriculture. WWOOFing is a FABULOUS way to travel inexpensively, learn sustainable land practices, and create connections all across the globe!

Visitors, or ‘WWOOFers’, spend about half of each day helping out on a farm, learn about organic agriculture, and share in daily life with the host. In exchange for your help, host farms provide housing, meals, and other means depending on the farm! For the complete basics, click here!

WWOOF was founded in 1971 in the UK, and is one of the world’s first educational and cultural exchange programs. Today, WWOOF is in more than 132 countries around the world (and growing), with a wide range of farm stay opportunities.

For two decades WWOOF-USA has been on a mission to create empowering connections between organic food, farming, and people. We are part of a worldwide effort to link all people with organic farmers in an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment and provide hands-on training to the next generation of farmers.

WWOOF hopes to provide a way for people to learn about organic food, agriculture, and sustainable ways of living. In doing so it brings together people who share similar values and philosophies. WWOOF's goal is to provide individuals from all around the world the opportunity to:

  • gain practical skills in organic farming and gardening

  • lend a helping hand wherever needed

  • experience rural living in the USA

  • further the organic and sustainability movement

  • participate in a cultural exchange
