Costa Rica - The Last Frontier Tour, May 1-9, 2022 I
Daily Itinerary
Day One:
*Fly into San Jose, Costa Rica!
*Upon arrival, met by our English-speaking guide
*Private transfer to the hotel located in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica.
*Walk around San Jose, grab some dinner!
Overnight in San Jose
Day Two:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
*Depart for the Irazu Volcano National Park. guided walk to the main crater of this active volcano an experience of a lifetime!
*Lunch in Costa Rica's original capitol, Cartago
*Enroute to our destination, we stop for a tour at Coopedota, the best coffee cooperative in Costa Rica - lots of delicious coffee tasting!
*Our final stop for the day San Gerardo de Dota, a Tropical Cloud Forest, an altitude of nearly 8000 ft
Meals: breakfast and lunch.
Overnight in San Gerardo de Dota, Savegre Lodge
Day Three:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
*An early morning guided walking tour, around the spectacular private trails of our hotel. Even non-birders will appreciate looking at the fantastic avifauna of the area and will be thrilled with the stunning views of the Resplendent Quetzal, plus over 200 exotic species.
*Afternoon at leisure to rest at your hotel/hike the trails, or enjoy an optional excursion.
*Dinner included at your hotel.
Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Overnight in San Gerardo de Dota.

Day Four:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
*Drive to the South Pacific area of Costa Rica, our first destination is Sierpe, where we jump on a boat down in the Osa Peninsula- one of the wildest and most biodiverse places on Earth. The one hour boat ride takes you along the main river of the Térraba-Sierpe mangrove forest park and then along the spectacular coastline.
Our final destination is a rustic, though comfy lodge at the Agujitas River Mouth, Drake Bay - our base for the next four nights
Note: it is a wet landing so, wear shoes easy to remove, sandals or water shoes
Upon arrival to the Lodge you will enjoy a refreshing fruit cocktail and lunch. The afternoon is free to rest you can explore the trails around, hotel pool, the property is also beachfront therefore you can also just relax - cocktail in hand.

Day Five:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
Today you will visit the Corcovado National Park, San Pedrillo Station offers you a wonderful, unparalleled opportunity to see both primary and secondary rainforest, as well as a wide variety of plant and animal life. You will take a short, 30- minute boat ride, that may include whale and dolphin sightings.
Once in the park you will have a nature walks to admire the beautiful dense forest, waterfalls and rivers.
*Leisure time in late the afternoon.

Day Six:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
You will visit Cano Island that is a paradise for snorkelers, scuba divers, swimmers, and sunbathers alike, the island is just a boat ride away, the boat ride takes approximately 45 minutes.
The boat will anchor at two different sites close Cano Island, and your snorkeling guide will point out the diverse species living just below the surface.
The dark, volcanic rock and the open water around the Island are home to a variety of marine life including Olive Ridley and Hawksbill Sea Turtles, White-Tipped Sharks, several species of Moray Eels, Mobula, Eagle or Sting Rays, big Cubera Snapper, schools of Horse-Eyed Jacks, King Angelfish, Grunts, and Barracudas.
*Late afternoon/evening, leisure time

Day Seven:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
Enjoy the mangrove boat tour with the visit to Bird Island. Full of legends and rich history, this isolated and unexplored wilderness area will inspire everyone who visits it.
Start the tour by entering the Sierpe River into a large mangrove forest and have then explored the forest by boat.
You will see ancient mangrove trees and return to the ocean by another river to a large beach. Later, your guide will take the boat to Bird Island to see nesting and frigate birds. Lunch is included in this tour.
Or, option to relax at the hotel, or take a horse riding excursion!
Overnight in Drake Bay

Day Eight:
*Breakfast at the hotel
*Begin our ride towards San Jose.
*Enroute: ZIPLINE adventure in Jaco!
*Farewell dinner in a local restaurant.

Day Nine:
*Breakfast at the hotel.
*Private transfer to the Juan Santamaria International Airport.
